Privacy policy.
In short
- We don’t sell your information, and we don’t run ads.
- The only things you give us are what you type into a contact form.
- Google Analytics counts visits so we know which pages people read.
- The General Store, the room’s calendar, and the music players are run by outside companies with their own policies.
- Ask us anything about your data at contact@countryboy.com.
Who we are
This website, countryboy.com, belongs to The Country Boy, the restaurant at 4141 Old Hillsboro Rd, Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee 37064. The Tornado Room, the music room on the lower level of the same building, is part of the same business, and this policy covers both floors of the site, including the pages under /tornado-room/.
When this page says “we,” it means The Country Boy. When it says “the site,” it means every page at countryboy.com.
What we collect
What you give us
The site has two contact forms: one on the Contact page and one on the room’s Find the Door page. Each asks for your name, your email address, a topic, and a message. A phone number is optional. Nothing on the site asks you to make an account, and there is nothing to log in to.
What the site collects on its own
Like nearly every website, this one uses an analytics service (Google Analytics) that records which pages are viewed, roughly where a visitor is (city level), what kind of device and browser they use, which site sent them here, and which links they click. It uses cookies to tell one visit from another. It does not know your name.
The company that hosts the site (Microsoft Azure) keeps standard server logs, which include the internet address (IP address) your device uses, the pages requested, and when. We use those only to keep the site running and to look into problems.
When you click a link to the General Store, buy something, sign up to play the room, or press play on a song, you are dealing with an outside company. What they collect is described under Outside services.
How we use it
We use what we collect for four things, and only these:
- To answer you. A contact-form note is read by the person it concerns and replied to by email or phone.
- To understand the site. Analytics tells us which pages help people and which don’t, and whether the store link, the calendar, and the forms are getting used.
- To keep the site working and safe. Server logs help us find errors and abuse.
- To meet a legal obligation, if one ever arises.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
Outside services
Parts of the site are supplied by other companies. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy that applies once you are using its service.
- Google Analytics
- Counts visits, as described above. Provided by Google LLC.
- The General Store
- Merchandise is sold through a storefront run by Fourthwall. When you click through to it you leave this site. Your order, payment, and shipping details go to Fourthwall and its payment processors under Fourthwall’s privacy policy; we receive what is needed to fulfil the order.
- The room’s calendar and performer sign-up
- The Tornado Room’s show listings, calendar, ticket links, and the form performers use to ask for a night are provided by Bridge Live. The listings load from Bridge’s servers, so Bridge sees the same kind of request a page view sends. Anything you enter in the performer form or a ticket purchase is handled by Bridge under Bridge’s privacy policy.
- Music players
- On the Live Music page you can listen to an act before you come down. Those players come from Spotify, SoundCloud, or YouTube and load only when you press “Listen” or “Watch.” From that moment the player is theirs: it may set its own cookies and, if you are signed in to that service, connect the play to your account. YouTube is loaded in its privacy-enhanced mode, which does not store viewing history unless you play the video.
- Maps
- The map on the Contact and Visit pages is a picture requested from Google Maps when the page loads. Directions links open Google Maps or Apple Maps on your device, under those services’ own terms.
- Contact-form delivery
- Notes from the forms are delivered to our inbox through a service operated by Convergent Software, the studio that built this site, which uses an email-delivery provider to send them. They carry the message and nothing else, and are not used for any other purpose. If that service is unavailable, the form opens a draft in your own email program instead, and the note travels as ordinary email.
- Hosting
- The site is served from Microsoft Azure, which keeps the server logs described above.
- Social links
- Links to Instagram, Facebook, Yelp, Tripadvisor, and Apple Maps are plain links. Nothing from those services runs on this site, and they learn nothing about you until you click through.
How long we keep it
- Contact-form notes stay in our inbox until the matter is settled, then are deleted in the ordinary course of tidying up, generally within a year.
- Google Analytics keeps visitor-level data for fourteen months, the shortest setting it offers, then aggregates it.
- Hosting logs are kept by Microsoft for a short, fixed period and are not exported by us.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, so what travels between your browser and it is encrypted. Form notes travel encrypted to our inbox. The site itself stores nothing about you: it has no database of visitors. No method of transmission is perfect, so please don’t put anything in a contact form that you would not put in an email, such as card numbers.
Children
The site is for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from children under thirteen. If you believe a child has sent us something through a form, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@countryboy.com and we will answer within thirty days. We will do this for anyone who asks, whatever state or country they live in; where a law gives you more specific rights, those apply too. We will not treat you differently for asking.
To stop analytics, use the opt-out add-on or your browser’s cookie controls described under Cookies and analytics. To stop hearing from us, reply to any email and say so; we don’t run a mailing list, so there is nothing else to unsubscribe from.
Changes
If we change how the site handles information, we will change this page and update the date at the top. If a change matters, such as a new service that collects more, we will say so plainly here.
